What you need to know when purchasing a pressure washer
1. What do you want to clean? Will it be heavy mud like dirt? A lot of grease?
2. Heavy mud like dirt will require more water volume and grease will need hot water to effectively remove it.
3. What is the surface to be cleaned? This is important because today’s pressure washers can pack a lot of force so you need to know which one will do the job without damaging the surface under the dirt.
4. Is electricity available and if it is what is the available power. Single phase – three phase? 110, 230 or 460 volts?
5. If electricity is not provided you will need to have either a gas engine or diesel engine pressure washer. How much pressure and volume you need will determine what size engine is required.
6. To heat the water you can use either electricity, diesel, natural gas or LP gas. You need to know how much of each is on location to make sure there is enough volume to heat the water to the temperature needed.
7. Some dirt will need chemicals to remove it completely so an experience pressure washer salesman can guide you in picking out the correct detergent for your dirt.
8. Finally who is selling you the pressure washer? Do they have the service personnel to back up the sale? All equipment will need service at some time. If the service is not available a pressure washer that does not work will not even make a good boat anchor.
